
Prior to becoming an
artist, Adrienne van Dooren completed a 20 year
career as an Army Officer. While in the military,
she served as in a variety of challenging positions
to include: Terrorism Analyst, Secretary of Defense
Fellow, Commander, and White House Aide. Adrienne
particularly enjoyed her teaching assignments
at both the graduate (CGS/ Masters) level and
undergraduate (California State University, Fullerton)
level. She won CGSC Instructor of the Year in
1995. Upon retirement, Adrienne decided to combine
her passion for teaching and her longtime love
of art.
Adrienne holds a Masters Degree and has completed
almost 800 hours of specialty training in faux
finishing and decorative painting. She has studied
at top faux schools across the US under master
artists to include: Kelly King, Nicola Vigini,
Patrick Kirwin, Sean Crosby, Pierre Finkelstein
and Melanie Royals.
Now an experienced faux finisher, artist, author,
instructor and speaker, Adrienne has been invited
to teach at studios across the country and to
speak at national conferences to include Faux-cademy,
the Faux Event, and SALI. She is a regular
contributor to the Faux Finisher magazine and
her work has been featured at the International
Salon of Artists, television, and in national
print (to include
Decorating Solutions, HGTV, Costco Connection,
and Paint Magic Magazines.)
While highly sought after by top designers for
her faux and canvas art, Adrienne limits her commissioned
work to pursue her passion for continuous learning,
teaching, sharing information, and using art to
benefit others. She is CEO of Creative Enterprises
(www.cefaux.com) Artists' Cooperative, Chair of
the House that Faux Built Project and is now in
the process of forming a non-profit organization
for future charitable art projects called Artists
for Others.
